The full-fledged series between India and Australia is scheduled to be commencing on November 27 with a 3-match ODI series, followed by as many T20Is ending on December 8. The four-match Test series will begin on December 17 and the two teams in question will contest in red-ball for 5 weeks till January 19. The Indian head coach Ravi Shastri is all set to train his players ahead of the series and is happy to be ‘back to business’ with the players before they take on hosts Australia.

Shastri has posted pictures of him working with Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur during an outdoor training session. The head coach has even posed for a picture with veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan.

The last time India visited Australia, the subcontinent side emerged victorious, by 2-1, in the 4-Test series and head coach Shastri’s happiness was beyond control. It was clear how much Shastri actually respects the longest format and how important the win was to him.

Shastri had said, “I’ll tell you how satisfying it is for me (winning) World Cup ’83, (winning) World Championship ’85, this is as big or even bigger because this is in the truest format of the game, that’s Test cricket which is meant to be the toughest.”

Name after two Test cricket greats, Allan Border and Sunil Gavaskar, the Border-Gavaskar trophy is one of the most reputed bilateral series in the red-ball format of the highest tier. Gavaskar tried to convey to the excited fans what Shastri might have really meant.

Gavaskar had said, “I think what he said was clearly about the Test format this is the biggest victory as far as he is concerned; because he was a part of the ’83 and ’85 limited-overs competition win. Those were 50-over format wins and this is a Test format win so, therefore, that’s a big high for him to be a part of it because he is the coach. I think that’s why he was feeling so chuffed about it.”
