Looking back at India’s historic series win in Australia last month, head coach, Ravi Shastri asserted the fans and pundits didn’t believe the visitors can beat Australia in back-to-back series. He also expressed some criticism on the Australian media and the section of people who had downplayed India’s series win in the 2018-19 series season saying that the hosts missed two of their most influential players in the form of David Warner and Steve Smith.
During a recent chat on Star Sports, Ravi Shastri said, “Public memory is so short. In your lifetime, you will never go through a period like this where you go and win back-to-back in Australia. When we went last time, people said ‘last time Smith wasn’t there Warner wasn’t there’. This time who did we have? Band bajaake aa gaye unka.”

The Indian head coach was also of the opinion that the kind of victory Indian managed to pull off in Australia this time around is something that cricket has not seen ever.
With several of the Indian cricketers missing the action during injuries throughout the series, Shastri added that there was a point where if they had a concussion injury, they would require the player to play on.
Describing the same, Ravi Shastri said, “I think the character the boys showed right through will stay with for long. I don’t think cricket has seen anything like this. To go and play 16 days of Test match cricket, to come back from 36-all out was unreal. Towards the end, we didn’t have anyone to pick.”

He further added, “There was one player left in the dressing room to pick. If there were a concussion injury, he would have also played. Kartik Tyagi is the player. Your hair stands when you think of it.”
