Cricket stalwart Ravi Shastri added another feather to his already illustrious cap as he was bestowed with an honorary fellowship by Cardiff Metropolitan University. The former India skipper and head coach got the honorary fellowship in a ceremony held at the historic Sophia Gardens—one of the cricket grounds that is really close to his heart.
The award stays as a testament to the invaluable services that Shastri has offered to the game as a player and mentor. His four-year stint with Glamorgan County Cricket Club during the late 1980s stayed in the minds of all concerned. He has been honored by the university for his impact.

He was so overwhelmed that Shastri said thanks and expressed disbelief. Never in his wildest dreams had he thought of getting such an honour during his playing days, for which he literally showed tears of joy over the university decision. Shastri’s career has been one tapestry of wonderful achievements in cricket.
