After winning the Adelaide Test, the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri claims that the players now need to take the crucial rest before the second Test of the series at Perth.
On Monday (December 10), India finally finished their almost 11 years’ winless Test moment in Australia after winning the Adelaide Test by 31 runs. Since their Perth victory in January 2008, it was India’s first Test victory in Australia.
After winning the game and taking the 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series, the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has now emphasised to resting the players.

Shastri told, “We lost the first Test in England by 31, lost the first Test in South Africa by 60-70, so this is a very good feeling for the boys to come out on top. When you get off to a good start, there’s belief.
“They have to rest up, to hell with the nets. You just come there, mark your attendance and get away to the hotel. We know the Perth track is quick, it’s a drop in surface, there will be something there for the fast bowlers.”

Shastri hugely impressed with the discipline bowling performances by the Indian bowlers in this Test match. He further credited on their hard works for a long time.
The Indian head coach added, “The bowlers were brilliant in the first innings, defending 250, the discipline was magnificent. They’ve worked on it, it’s not come in overnight. As a bowling unit, when you show that discipline, it doesn’t matter which side you play against. You will be successful.”

Talking about the batting performances, Shastri praised the Player of the Match Cheteshwar Pujara, who played the 123 and 71 runs knocks in this Test match. The Indian coach also felt that the other batsmen played some rash shots in the first innings but they learnt from it and showed improvement in the second innings.
Shastri quoted, “There was some rash shots played in the first innings, that was foolish cricket, but they learnt from it. Pujara was absolutely magnificent, we’ve asked him to be a little more upright to counter bounce in these conditions.”
