India Test-heroes Ravichandran Ashwin was again a key man in an emphatic 280-run win against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai. Ashwin was seen sharing a special moment with his wife Prithi and their two daughters after the match, terming it the best day of his life. Ashwin had just pulled off a spectacular double: he had scored a hundred and taken six wickets in the same Test match, his fourth successive double in Test cricket and the second successive one at Chepauk, his home ground.
Asked if he felt a deeper affinity with the stadium, Ravichandran Ashwin said, “Every time I come here, it feels special. I don’t know if there’s some energy in this ground. Anything that gets me going.”
Ravichandran Ashwin also addressed his family’s attendance at the stadium. His wife Prithi jokingly said that he hadn’t acknowledge them during the match, which the daughters often point it out to her.

“She kept complaining that I didn’t see her the first day. I don’t see them,” Ravichandran Ashwin said in a BCCI video. “To me, it’s very hard to keep a look out for the family when you are in the middle of a game. But I do make a conscious effort because the kids are always asking me why I did not say hello.”
