After losing the first ODI of the three-match ODI series against the hosts Australia at Sydney, the visiting side India must have to win the second ODI at Adelaide to stay in the series and they did it at the end. While the skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have been praised hugely for the Sydney ODI victory, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also praised his Tamil Nadu teammate Dinesh Karthik for evolving himself as one of best finishers at present.
Chasing down the 299 runs target to level the three-match ODI series, Karthik came to bat after the Indian skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed on 104 runs when the visiting side India needed to score 57 runs in 38 balls with six wickets in hands.

Since his return to the international cricket from July 2017, Karthik has gradually evolved himself as a brilliant finisher of the Indian cricket team in limited-overs cricket. He has started to impress himself as a finisher since the 2018 Nidahas Trophy in last March and now he is consistently proving himself as the successful finisher of the team.

Observing Karthik’s impressive batting, Ashwin feels very happy and tweeted, “Just going through some batting numbers of @DineshKarthik over the last 18 months and its not surprising to see that he has become one of the best finishers in the world right now. This version of DK is all that he ever wanted to be, I am very happy for him. #INDvsAUS”
