Jasprit Bumrah made a triumphant return to international cricket following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, stepping onto the field for the first Test against Bangladesh on September 19. True to form, Bumrah showcased his exceptional skills by claiming five wickets in the first match. He followed this impressive performance with an even stronger showing in the second Test, where he secured six wickets, leading India to a 2-0 series victory over Bangladesh.

Ravichandran Ashwin himself had a stellar outing in the first Test held in Chennai, his hometown, where he dazzled with both bat and ball. He maintained his fine form in the second Test as well, adding another five wickets to his tally.
Reflecting on his journey, Ravichandran Ashwin acknowledged the pressure of stepping into the shoes of legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh, who had been an inspiration for him.

“I can’t really comment on what sort of impact I have had on this Test match. I had huge shoes to fill; I came in to replace Harbhajan. I used to replicate his action in junior cricket, and constantly people have doubted if I could deliver in red-ball cricket as I came from the IPL. However, many people have come and helped me along the way,” Ravichandran Ashwin remarked after the first Test, highlighting the challenges he has faced and the support he has received throughout his career.
