Ravichandran Ashwin and Mustafizur Rahman were involved in a funny incident during the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The match took place in Abu Dhabi where the DC side holds all the aces against their opponents. During the first innings, Ashwin was facing the Bangladeshi bowler, Mustafizur as he walked in after the DC side had lost their way during the death overs.

Mustafizur Rehman made a huge mistake

The wily Mustafizur bowled a slower delivery wide outside off stump and Ravichandran Ashwin failed the attempt of playing a cheeky reverse scoop. The non-striker, Lalit Yadav, had already set off for a bye to get back on strike. Ashwin was unaware and the ‘keeper Sanju Samson fired in a throw to the bowler at the non-striker’s end. Mustafizur collected the ball and threw it towards the stumps but he missed as well.

Ravichandran Ashwin was well outside the crease and would have been declared out with Mustafizur had smashed the stumps. The resulting throw from ‘The Fizz’ resulted in an overthrow and Ashwin grabbed the opportunity of stealing an extra run. Out of nothing, two runs were sneaked in and in a game of small margins, this could prove to be quite important for the DC side.

Earlier, DC had gotten off to a poor start after both the openers fell early. A partnership between Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer helped them to rebuild the innings. They both fell in back-to-back overs which put the pressure back on DC.

There was a late surge from the middle and lower-order batsmen which ensured that DC manage to get past the 150-run mark. They eventually ended up on 154/6 in their 20 overs and against a flustered RR batting line-up, could well turn out to be a match-winning total.
