It was a debate whether Ravichandran Ashwin would play for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) or not in the next season of IPL which has played its 12th season this year. In these 12 years, KXIP have never won a title. So far their best result came in 2014 when they reached finals but it KKR won the game by defeating them. As the auction would take place in a couple of months for IPL 2020, all the franchises are busy in their hunt to find some fresh players but the owner of KXIP, Ness Wadia has said Ravichandran Ashwin would play for them.
“We have seen what impact Ashwin has in the Indian team. He is an exceptional player and is not only an asset for the Indian team, but also for Kings XI Punjab. He is an integral part of the team and he will continue to remain so. You know the value Ashwin brings to the team. There is no question of letting him go,” Ness Wadia said as quoted by Sportstar.
However, whether he would be the captain or not that would be decided by the newly appointed coach only.
