Ravichandran Ashwin Withdraws From IPL To Support His Family Amid COVID-19

Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday to support his family amid the crunch time of the global pandemic novel COVID-19 pandemic. Ashwin, the key Test and ODI player has said that he would like to take a break from playing in the cash-rich T20 league where he has been playing for the Delhi Capitals team.

โ€œMy family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times,โ€ Ashwin tweeted. โ€œI expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals.โ€

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have said that they have supported the decision of Ravichandran Ashwin. โ€œExtending our full support to you in these difficult times, @ashwinravi99 Sending you and your family all the strength and prayers from all of us at Delhi Capitals,โ€ the team tweeted.

Ashwin has appeared in 77 Tests as well as 111 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals as well. He has 409 Test wickets in his name. Moreover, he is one of the 16 bowlers in the history of the game to break the 400-mark. As far as Delhi Capitals’ last match is concerned, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) middle-order put up a great show which foiled Delhi’s stunning bowling effort in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
