In a heated Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025 clash between Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans on June 8, Ravichandran Ashwin’s frustration took centre stage. The Dindigul skipper was visibly irked after being adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire off Sai Kishore’s bowling. Ashwin immediately contested the decision, convinced the ball had pitched well outside the leg stump.

While walking back after scoring 18 runs, the veteran off-spinner expressed his anger by striking his pads with the bat, clearly upset with the call. What added to the drama was Dindigul’s earlier decision to burn both their reviews on wide-ball checks in the opening over, leaving Ashwin with no option for recourse.

The broadcast captured him arguing, “‘He has bowled this from over the stumps, ma’am,’” insisting it couldn’t have hit the stumps.

Ashwin’s dismissal marked the beginning of a batting collapse for the Dindigul Dragons. They struggled to get going and were eventually bundled out for a paltry 93. Opener Shivam Singh was the top scorer with 30, while RK Jayant managed 18. The rest of the lineup failed to reach double digits, reflecting a disappointing effort with the bat.
For IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, A. Esakkimuthu shone with the ball, claiming 4 for 26 in a tidy spell. M. Mathivannan picked up three wickets, and skipper Sai Kishore added two scalps to his name.

Chasing 94, Tiruppur lost opener Amit Sathvik early, but Tushar Raheja (64 off 39) and Radhakrishnan stitched together a match-winning 75-run stand. Raheja’s aggressive knock, laced with six fours and five sixes, sealed the win in style. The result propelled Tiruppur to second on the points table, while Ashwin’s Dragons slumped to fifth after a forgettable outing.
