Left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc on the West Indies batting lineup, bowling them out for just 114 runs in the first ODI. Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets for just 6 runs in his 3 overs. He was particularly effective in the middle overs when he took 3 wickets in 2 overs to help India break the back of the West Indies innings.

Jadeja also bowled well, taking 3 wickets for 37 runs. He was particularly effective in the early overs when he took 2 wickets in his first 2 overs to put the West Indies on the back foot.

The West Indies batting lineup was completely at sea against the spin of Kuldeep and Jadeja. They were unable to read the variations in the bowlers’ deliveries, and they were bowled out for their lowest ODI total against India.

After the match, Kuldeep and Jadeja were interviewed by the BCCI. They were both in good spirits, and they were clearly enjoying each other’s company. Ravindra Jadeja said that he and Kuldeep worked well as a pair, and he was particularly impressed with the catch that Virat Kohli took off his bowling. Kohli took a low, sharp catch to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer, and Jadeja said that it was one of the best catches he had ever seen.

 

As per the quotes in the Times of India, Jadeja said, “The catch that Virat (Kohli) took was simply outstanding and as I take good catches off others bowling it feels great when someone takes a great catch off my bowling too, it was a low and sharp catch.”

Kuldeep said that he was happy with his performance, and he hoped that he and Jadeja could continue to take wickets together. He said, “Touchwood hope you keep performing like this and we keep taking wickets together.”

The second ODI of the series will be played on Saturday at the same venue. India will be looking to build on their victory in the first match, and they will be hoping that Kuldeep and Jadeja can continue to be their main wicket-takers. The second ODI of the series is on Saturday at the same venue.
