On Day 5 of the second and final Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park, Ravindra Jadeja made an immediate impact with the ball, striking in his very first over. The left-arm spinner dismissed Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, delivering a crucial breakthrough for Team India in the morning session.

The pivotal moment it occurred in the 28th over of Bangladesh’s second innings. On the second ball of the over, Shanto attempted a reverse sweep against Jadeja, an unconventional and risky shot considering the match situation. While Shanto had played a reverse sweep successfully on the previous ball, his second attempt did not go as planned.

The delivery from Jadeja was straighter, and instead of connecting cleanly, Shanto completely missed the ball, which crashed into the stumps. Najmul Shanto, who had scored 19 runs off 37 balls, including two boundaries, was visibly frustrated as his innings ended abruptly.

His dismissal broke a budding partnership with fellow opener Shadman Islam, putting Bangladesh in a precarious position as they tried to navigate through the crucial final day of the Test match. Ravindra Jadeja’s breakthrough was exactly what India needed as they looked to tighten their grip on the game.

Najmul Shanto’s wicket was a significant moment, given that Bangladesh’s top order was relying on the captain to anchor the innings. This early strike set the tone for the rest of the day as India aimed to dismantle Bangladesh’s batting lineup and secure a win.
