Chennai Super Kings (CSK) asserted their dominance against hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) after star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja clung to a stunner to dismiss the dangerous all-rounder Cameron Green. It was Jadeja’s second wicket of the match as the home side’s middle order succumbed to the CSK spinners.

Following a brisk start by the Mumbai openers, the hosts lost their way after the powerplay and their hopes of a comeback into the contest were severely dented after Ravindra Jadeja ended the hard-hitting Cameron Green’s stay at the crease with a superb catch on his own bowling. Green had absolutely smashed Jadeja’s first delivery of the ninth over, but the CSK all-rounder somehow managed to cling onto the chance.

Umpire Chris Gaffaney was ducking for cover, but the ball stuck into an evading left hand of Ravindra Jadeja to bring a halt to Green’s stay at the crease. The southpaw spinner was in a menacing mood and struck a huge blow after dismissing the last match’s hero Tilak Verma to return with exceptional bowling figures of 3/20 in his four overs.

Mumbai Indians had started the game on a high owing to a blitzkrieg opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Ishan. However, the introduction of spin by the visitors completely derailed Mumbai’s batting innings as they suffered a loss of four quick wickets after the powerplay in a matter of 3 overs.

While Ravindra Jadeja accounted for three opposition batters, he received valiant support from Mitchell Santner from the other end, who also managed to scalp a couple of two wickets, including the crucial scalp of Suryakumar Yadav. Mumbai Indians eventually managed to reach the score of 157 for the loss of 8 wickets in their quota of 20 overs.
