Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami Returns As BCCI Announces Squad For WTC Final

The veteran Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, and fast bowlers, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Indian squad for the longest format of the game as the selection committee picked the squads for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and the five-match Test series scheduled to be played in England.

Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav failed to retain their place in the squad despite featuring in the team during the home series against England earlier this year in February. In the 24-member strong squad, KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha’s availability is subject to fitness.

However, opener Abhimanyu Eswaran and fast bowlers Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla are named standby players for the tour. India’s first stop will be in Southampton where they will be locking horns with New Zealand to decide the inaugural ICC Test Championship winner.

Following their 3-1 win against England at home, India finished at the top of the World Test Championship table with 72.2 percentage points and booked their place in the final.

Following the game, the Indian team will be locking horns with England in a five-match Test series scheduled to be commencing on Aug ust4 at Nottingham. The final Test will be played in Manchester starting September 14.
