The Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja has always been known for his premier fielding skills and he took a blinder in the first of a 3-match ODI series against Australia in Mumbai on Friday, March 17. Jadeja left the fans in awe with his stunning fielding effort at the short third-man region at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ravindra Jadeja dived to his right and took the low catch with both his arms placed perfectly under the ball. It happened in the 23rd over of the Australian innings when Marnus Labuschagne tried to cut a delivery that was pitched on the shorter side. Kuldeep got enough revs on the ball to get an outside edge that flew toward Jadeja.

Jadeja had very little time to judge the trajectory of the ball and time his dive but he got it right and pulled off a stunner. The all-rounder was evidently elated with his effort as he rose up from the ground, raised his hand and celebrated the wicket. His India teammates rushed toward him and embraced the all-rounder for the stunning catch.

Jadeja was pumped up on the field in the first ODI as he had taken the big wicket of Mitchell Marsh, ending the Australian all-rounder’s big-hitting show on Friday. Marsh hit 81 off just 65 balls, smashing 5 sixes and 10 boundaries, but he fell prey to a smartly-bowled delivery from Jadeja. The left-arm spinner floated one wide outside the off-stump, inviting Marsh to hit in the air. The big-hitter fell into the trap, outside-edging the delivery to Mohammed Siraj, who was stationed at short third man.

India’s fielding effort was top class on Friday as they were switched on from the word go. KL Rahul, who kept wickets even though Ishan Kishan was in the XI, took an excellent diving catch to dismiss Steve Smith in stand-in captain Hardik Pandya’s over.

Rahul was on the mark from the first delivery of the match as he had dived to save extras being conceded when Mohammed Shami and Siraj operated with the new ball.
