The veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja left his fans astonished by calling former cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar his “dear friend” while watching him on television. Jadeja shared a picture on Twitter, leaving fans in splits and a bit of shock as the two cricketers don’t have a hunky-dory history and a recent uneasy on-air interaction.
“Watching my dear friend on screen Sanjay Manjrekar,” Ravindra Jadeja tweeted alongside a picture of Sanjay Manjrekar, who is on commentary duty for the ongoing Legends League Cricket. Jadeja and Manjrekar’s bitter history dates back to 2019 when Manjrekar termed Jadeja a “bits and pieces” cricketer ahead of the ODI World Cup semi-final.

During his commentary stint, Sanjay Manjrekar said, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.”

The statement back then didn’t go down well with Ravindra Jadeja, who took to Twitter and wrote, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea.”
Following the war of words, Jadeja and Manjrekar had an uneasy on-air interaction during the post-match interview after the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan in August 2022.

Before asking questions about the match, in which Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role, Manjrekar said: “First question You are ok to talk to me? Right, Jaddu?”. To this, Jadeja replied: “Yeah, yeah (laughs). Absolutely!!” The India all-rounder Jadeja is currently recuperating from right knee surgery. He was ruled out of the Asia Cup midway through the continental tournament and will miss the T20 World Cup in October.
