India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has sparked a wave of reactions on social media after replying to a BCCI post inviting applications for a vacant position in the men’s national selection committee. Jadeja’s brief response quickly went viral, with several fans wondering whether it hinted at any tension between him and former India chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who stepped down from the role on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Jadeja responded directly to the BCCI’s post on X, which invited applications for the vacant selector’s position. “What the procedure?🤣” he wrote, prompting plenty of humorous and speculative reactions from fans. Jadeja is not particularly active on X, making the post stand out even more. His previous reply on the platform came on February 19, when he responded to former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin regarding a post about Nepal cricket.
@BCCI What the procedure?🤣

There has never been a public confrontation between Jadeja and Agarkar. However, Agarkar played an important role in India’s plans to move towards a younger T20I side following the team’s disappointing campaign at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

That transition was briefly delayed when Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jadeja returned to India’s T20I setup ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. India eventually won the tournament, after which all three senior players announced their T20I retirements, allowing the selectors to continue with the planned transition.
Jadeja was subsequently left out of India’s ODI squads for the Sri Lanka series in 2024 and the Australia series in 2025 during Agarkar’s tenure. Despite those omissions, Agarkar had repeatedly maintained that Jadeja remained an important part of India’s ODI plans.

Ravindra Jadeja had previously acknowledged that selection decisions were beyond his control while expressing his desire to continue representing India. “Selection isn’t in my hands. I want to play, for sure. At the end of the day, team management, selectors, coach and captain have their thoughts, and they will have their reasons for not selecting me for this series,” Jadeja had said.
