Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched a thrilling victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) to secure a spot in the final of the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL). Led by Smriti Mandhana, RCB displayed exceptional performance, particularly bolstered by star all-rounder Ellyse Perry.
Ellyse Perry’s remarkable contributions with bat and ball propelled RCB to victory and a berth in the highly anticipated final against Delhi Capitals. In the semi-final clash, RCB won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite facing an early batting collapse, Perry rose to the occasion, anchoring RCB’s innings with a gritty knock of 66 runs off 50 deliveries.

Ellyse Perry’s innings, embellished with eight boundaries and one maximum, played a pivotal role in RCB posting a competitive total of 135 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack, led by Hayley Mathews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Saika Ishaque, made significant contributions, picking up crucial wickets.

During the chase, Mumbai Indians encountered early setbacks, losing three wickets within the first 11 overs. However, captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front, contributing 33 runs off 30 deliveries to keep MI’s hopes alive.
Despite Kaur’s efforts, RCB’s bowlers, spearheaded by Shreyanka Patil, delivered an impressive performance. Patil claimed two crucial wickets, while Perry, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham, and Asha Shobhana provided valuable support, collectively stifling MI’s chase.
