RCB  managed to qualify for the playoffs by a narrow margin. Along with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they finished the league stage with seven victories. But they were ahead of the KKR in terms of NRR which helped them to seal the final spot. RCB could have finished higher in the table but four back-to-back losses dashed their chances.

Under the captaincy of Kohli, RCB will be locking horns with SRH in the Eliminator. If they manage to win the game against the in-form team, they will be facing the losing team from the first Qualifier which will be played between defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
