Most unexpectedly, Pakistan lost a two-match Test series to Bangladesh, that too on home soil, without so much as a whimper. But in the first Test, the visitors were in a commanding position after declaring their first innings at 448/6 in response to which Bangladesh fought back brilliantly to take a 117-run first-innings lead.

Pakistan crumbled in their second innings against the Bangladeshi attack and were bowled out for 146 runs, allowing Bangladesh to pull off a historic victory by ten wickets. The second Test started with the first day being a washout because of rain, but again Bangladesh showed their grit.

In reply to Pakistan’s 274 on Day 2, being reduced to 26/6, they managed to put on board 262. Then Bangladeshi bowlers did their job with great spirit, bowling out Pakistan for a low third-innings score. Chasing 185, Bangladesh won with ease, sweeping the series with ease. A subtle dig has come from IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore on social media in the wake of the surprise defeat of Pakistan.

The post, which the franchise shared on X, made a sly comment on the Pakistan home Test record and compared that to India’s dominance at home. The graphic featured the Indian Test team, showcasing the big difference in home records.

Where Pakistan’s latest defeat was their 10th successive home Test without a victory, India have an unbeaten run of 17 series at home, and that dates back to their victory against Australia in 2013. “Wining at home isn’t as easy as this team makes it look like,” RCB captioned the post, referring to India’s formidable record.

Meanwhile, India are set to have a busy Test calendar in the run-up to the World Test Championship 2025 final. First up for them will be a two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19.
