RCB Undergoes Major Changes In Their Management

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) witnessed yet another poor season this year. They failed to qualify for the playoffs and that left their fans agitated and frustrated with their performances. The team is finding it hard to qualify for the playoffs in most of the seasons despite having some of the best T20 players in the world. However, the franchise has reshuffled the top management now bringing in the new chairman and the chief marketing officer.

Diageo India chief financial officer Sanjeev Churiwala will now take over as the Chairman of the RCB franchise which is owned by Diageo India itself. Julie Bramham has been the appointed the new Chief Marketing Officer and will also be on the Executive Committee. Both will replace Amrit Thomas who was at the helm as the Chairman and was looking after the proceedings as the CMO also.

Talking about the association, Diageo India MD and CEO Anand Kripalu said, “We are delighted to welcome Julie to the Diageo India family. Her experience at working on our global brands and developed markets will add to the diversity of the Diageo business in India. I also wish Sanjeev the very best at RCSPL.”

According to the reports in Inside Sport, the company said that Thomas is now moving to London as the Marketing and Innovative Director, Europe. RCB is owned by the Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd (RCSPL), a subsidiary of Diageo India. The British Company is present in India through its subsidiary United Sports Limited, India’s leading beverage alcohol company.

The company acquired the RCB franchise from the fugitive liquor king Vijay Mallya who was the owner of the team in the earlier seasons.
