Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s much-anticipated open bus parade to celebrate their maiden IPL title has been cancelled due to severe traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The team had earlier announced a grand victory procession after their thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final held in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night.

Originally planned to begin at 3:30 PM IST on June 4 from Vidhana Soudha and conclude at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the parade was called off in light of logistical and traffic concerns in the central business district (CBD) area.

In place of the parade, the RCB squad will now be felicitated during a closed ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5 PM and 6 PM IST. Before heading to the stadium, the players will meet Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha. Entry to the felicitation event will be strictly through valid passes, and fans have been advised to use the Metro and other public transport due to minimal parking availability around the venue.

Here’s what’s revised:

  • No open-top bus victory parade
  • Felicitation to be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium (5 PM to 6 PM IST)
  • Only pass holders will be allowed entry
  • Metro use is encouraged; heavy traffic is expected in the CBD from 3 PM to 8 PM

The cancellation slightly dampens the mood but doesn’t take away from the glory RCB earned. After three heartbreaks in IPL finals, the franchise finally lifted the trophy, thanks to Krunal Pandya’s match-defining spell of 4-0-17-2. Virat Kohli, who has been with RCB since the inaugural season in 2008, finally got his hands on the coveted silverware, ending the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer with 657 runs in 15 games.
