In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has witnessed a new entry in their squad. In place of the injured Reece Topley, RCB has given a chance to the all-rounder from South Africa as they have roped in Wayne Parnell. Reece Topley has been ruled out of the 16th edition of the tournament due to shoulder injury.
In the very first match of the 16th season of IPL, RCB suffered a big blow. In the first match against Mumbai Indians, RCB’s star bowler Reece Topley suffered a shoulder injury. He then decided to go back home and was eventually ruled out of IPL 2023. In the eighth over, Reece Topley injured his shoulder while trying to block Tilak Verma.

Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed South African left-arm fast bowler Wayne Parnell for the season as a replacement for the injured Reece Topley. According to a report by ClubCricketSA, Wayne Parnell is likely to join the squad soon and will be available to play in RCB’s upcoming matches.

Earlier, during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, Sanjay Bangar broke the news that Topley had been ruled out despite the management trying their best to retain him.

Wayne Parnell is also a South African all-rounder and he registered himself at the base price of INR 75 lakh in the IPL auction. But he went unsold at auction. Wayne Parnell has played 26 matches in IPL so far. He has scored 63 runs and 26 wickets in these matches. He is a T20 veteran, having made his international debut in 2009. Parnell has so far played 56 matches in which, he has claimed 59 wickets at a strike rate of 18.5 and an economy of 8.29.
