Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Reece Topley stunned spectators with a sensational catch, dismissing Mumbai Indians’ opener Rohit Sharma during their IPL 2024 clash at the Wankhede Stadium. In a match where MI skipper Hardik Pandya chose to bowl first after winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced an early setback with the dismissal of Virat Kohli by Jasprit Bumrah for just 3 runs. Jacks, too, fell quickly, managing only 8 runs.

However, Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar stabilized the RCB innings with an impressive 82-run partnership, showcasing remarkable boundary-hitting skills. Patidar reached his fifty in just 25 balls but was dismissed on the next delivery.

Following Patidar’s dismissal, Glenn Maxwell departed for a duck to spinner Shreyas Gopal. Du Plessis also reached his fifty before falling victim to Bumrah, who then proceeded to dismiss Mahipal Lomror with a toe-crushing delivery.

Dinesh Karthik played a crucial role for RCB, keeping the scoreboard ticking with innovative shots. He dismantled Akash Madhwal, smashing four boundaries in an over, all directed towards the third-man region. Bumrah completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Saurav Chauhan and Vyshak Vijayakumar in successive deliveries in the penultimate over. Karthik, meanwhile, completed his fifty, guiding RCB to a total of 196.

Despite a strong start from MI’s Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, who put up a 101-run opening partnership, Kishan’s dismissal by Akash Deep for 69 off 34 balls brought a glimmer of hope for RCB. Rohit added 38 runs before Topley’s spectacular catch ended his innings. However, Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive 52 off 19 balls ensured MI’s comfortable victory.
