Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) elections will be held soon after the implementation of Lodha panel reforms, but one of the interesting points is close relatives of DDCA members will fight as the important candidates in the elections.

The DDCA election has been scheduled for June 30. For the several positions, family members of some of former DDCA members have been shortlisted in the final list of nominations.

Former DDCA vice president and current BCCI’s interim president CK Khanna’s wife Shashi Khanna will fight for the vice-president post. Rakesh Bansal, brother of former DDCA president Sneh Bansal, is another candidate for that role.

For the Director role, Alok Mittal (son of former DDCA director Brij Mohan Gupta), Nitin Gupta (son of former DDCA joint secretary Ganga Prasad Gupta), Apurv Jain (son of former DDCA joint secretary Ravi Jain), Puneet Sharma (son of former DDCA director Ajay Sharma) etc are some names among the candidates.

Ashok Katyal’s wife Saroj Katyal and Anil Khanna’s wife Renu Khanna are among the candidates of Women Director’s post. Ashok Katyal was the former sports working committee member of DDCA while Anil Khanna was the former DDCA general secretary.

Moreover, Rajan Manchanda and Pushpendra Chauhan will participate in the joint secretary election. Rajan is the brother of former DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda. Meanwhile, Pushpendra is the brother of former DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan.

India TV CEO Rajat Sharma was present during the announcement of candidate list on Monday evening at the Roshanara Club. Sharma has ensured that the elections will be conducted in an authentic way.

Sharma said on that, “I will ensure that DDCA is run in a professional manner. A CEO will be appointed and transparency will be maintained. Every single penny will be accounted for.”

On the other hand, talking about his brother’s name in the candidate list, Chetan Chauhan said, “My brother has been a member of the DDCA since the early 1980s and he was also a wicketkeeper-batsman at the college level. A group of members advised him to contest for elections. Being a former office-bearer of the DDCA, I will be able to guide him properly in order to ensure that cricket is given priority in Delhi. I cannot vouch for other candidates who are related to those who were in the DDCA earlier, but my brother has the best interest of the game and members at heart.”
