Reminiscing Sachin Tendulkar with his IPL Century After WC win

On 2nd April 2011, Sachin Tendulkar had fulfilled his lifelong dream of lifting the World Cup. The Indian team had to wait for 28 long years before they were announced World Champions again. The victory was much sweeter for the little master as the Indian team lifted the trophy at his home ground in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium Just 13 days after the night of every Indian cricket fans’ dream, Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his World Cup win by smashing his maiden and only every century in T-20 internationals when he played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

During an IPL match between Mumbai Indians and now-defunct franchise Kochi Tuskers, Tendulkar scored his maiden and only T20 hundred at the Wankhede Stadium. It was the first game of the New IPL season and Sachin Tendulkar made sure the new season kickoff with a bang! During this innings, the then 38-year-old Sachin Tendulkar also became the first IPL captain to score a hundred.

Mumbai Indians was asked to bat first as Kochi won the toss and decided to chase.  Davy Jacobs and Tendulkar got Mumbai India to a decent start building a 61-run partnership for the first wicket.

After Davy Jacobs’s dismissal, Ambati Rayudu joined Tendulkar at the pitch. The duo stiched up an incredible 116-run partnership for the second wicket. Ambati Rayuduplayed a fierce knock of 53 off 33 balls, that included four sixes and three fours. Tendulkar’s maiden 100 came in 66 balls. The little master’s century helped Mumbai Indians post of 182/2  on board against Kochi Tuskers.

Brendon McCullum and Mahela Jayawardene spoiled  Sachin’s historic knock as the duo provided Kochi with a solid start. Chasing 183 runs, McCullum and Jayawardene put up an opening partnership of 128 runs.

McCullum scored 81 runs while Jayawardene knocked 56 runs to help their side win comfortably. Kochi won the match by eight wickets.
