After reports of the split between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble appeared, BCCI quickly decided to search for a new head coach and soon made an announcement for the same as well.
Despite the fact that Kumble has been a very successful coach for Team India in past 11-12 months but his demands including a 150% hike in fees and separate leadership fees for Virat Kohli were the amongst reasons presented for the reason for the search of someone to take over from him.
Virender Sehwag was brilliant in his role as Director of cricket operations of Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2017, while Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody and current coach of the Afghanistan side, Lalchand Rajput are in the running.
One of the interesting things to know is that the reports have omitted Rahul Dravid’s name but it has been expected that he is the prime contestant to replace Anil Kumble. Dravid has been doing splendid work with India U19 and India A and BCCI are keen on getting him onboard.
