Delhi Capitals (DC) have started off its Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign with two consecutive wins. After their nail-biting opener against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Day 2 of the season, under the captaincy of Sjteua Iyer, Delhi defeated MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs. Prithvi Shaw has starred with the bat against CSK as smashed a rampant 43 off 64 balls to give DC a brilliant start. His 94-run partnership with opener Shikhar Dhawan helped Delhi post a challenging target of 176 for Chennai.
After their batsmen put up a decent show, DC bowlers also executed their plans well and strangled CSK to register a comfortable 44-run win. Prithvi Shaw was adjudged Player-of-the-Match for his brisk innings but Ricky Ponting made sure that two other players are also awarded for their good show.

In a video shared by Delhi Capitals, it can be seen that Ponting gives away dressing room Player-of-the-Match’ award after the matches. The Australian recognized the vital contributions of spinner Axar Patel and fast bowler Anrich Nortje. Axar and Norje bowled very economical spell in which they scalped 1 and 2 wickets, respectively in the match.

In the video, Ricky Ponting can be heard saying, “Awesome again! Bowled 2 overs in the powerplay, four overs in total. Get the wicket of Watson they way we said you are gonna get him out. To get a wicket that way, you have to build pressure and bowl that ball to get him and that’s what you did. 4 over, 1 for 18. That’s an outstanding mate.”

Axar Patel got the priced wicket of Shane Watson for 6th time inside his last 60 balls bowled to the Australian opener. Watson tried to clear the fence over midwicket but was deceived by Patel’s delivery which skidded in the end moment. Watson for the same did not get any power or elevation and was caught comfortably by Shimron Hetmyer.
Ricky Ponting also looked impressed by the flasy knock of Prithvi Shaw and urged him to nothing during the course of the tournament. Delhi Capitals will now be locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday.
