Forced to bat under pressure after the early departure of top-order batsmen, Rinku Singh revealed, “When I came in to bat, we lost 2-3 wickets. It was tough then. When I was batting with Suryakumar Yadav, the talk was to play your usual game.”

Rinku Singh showcased maturity by taking some time to assess the conditions and settle in before unleashing his attacking shots. “I took some time in the beginning to understand the wicket and get set, and then managed to get the hits in,” he explained.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav provided crucial support and motivation, encouraging Rinku to trust his abilities. “Surya told me to believe in myself,” Rinku Singh shared. “As I said before, I took some time at the start and was patient before getting the big shots in.”

Rinku’s innings included a memorable six that shattered the glass at the media box at the St George’s Oval. “I did not know that when I hit that for a six it had broken the glass,” he confessed sheepishly. “So I am sorry for that,” he added with a laugh.

Despite Rinku Sirinkungh’s valiant effort and Suryakumar’s half-century, rain intervened, and South Africa successfully chased the revised target of 152 in 15 overs under the DLS method. Contributions from Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram propelled the Proteas to victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the series.
