Rinku Singh Inclusions Bolster India A Squad Against England Lions

Young batsman Rinku Singh has earned a spot in the India A squad for the upcoming second 4-day game against England Lions in Ahmedabad, commencing on January 24. Having recently featured in the T20I series against Afghanistan, Singh has showcased his explosive batting style. Following his T20I stint, he joined his state team for the Ranji Trophy Round 3 fixture against Bihar in Meerut.

Rinku Singh, renowned for his impactful performances in T20 cricket, made his ODI debut during the South Africa series, contributing significantly with scores of 17 and 38 in the two matches. With 44 first-class matches under his belt, Singh boasts an impressive record of 3109 runs at an average of 57.57.

India ‘A’ squad for the 2nd multi-day match: Abhimanyu Easwaran (Captain), Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Varma, Kumar Kushagra, Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Tushar Deshpande, Vidwath Kaverappa, Upendra Yadav, Akash Deep, Yash Dayal, Rinku Singh.

 

Additionally, Sarfaraz Khan has been selected for the second match but is set to depart from the squad before the third encounter. Kumar Kushagra from Jharkhand has received his maiden call-up to the India A squad for the second and third unofficial ‘Test’ matches against England Lions, marking a significant milestone in his career.

As the designated wicketkeepers, Kushagra and Upendra Yadav will fill the roles, given that Kona Bharat and Dhruv Jurel are part of the senior team for the first two Tests against England.

Sourabh Kumar, a left-arm spinner, is set to play in the second ‘Test’ scheduled from January 24-27, while Shams Mulani has earned a deserved India A call-up for the final game in Ahmedabad from February 4-7. Arshdeep Singh will have the opportunity to showcase his red-ball prowess in two games, aiming to stake his claim for an elevated role. Furthermore, Rinku Singh will step in for Sarfaraz Khan in the concluding match of the series.
