Reflecting on his selection, Rinku expressed his joy, saying, “My job is to work hard, and I am extremely delighted to have received the call for the Duleep Trophy. Initially, when the teams were announced, I wasn’t selected, which was disheartening. But today, I am elated to represent India B in this prestigious tournament.”

Rinku’s inclusion means that four players from Uttar Pradesh will have participated in this year’s Duleep Trophy. However, Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal, who were also part of the tournament, are expected to miss the upcoming matches due to their selection for India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh on September 19 in Chennai. Along with Rinku, Aaqib Khan from UP will also be competing in the tournament.

The President of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, Ankit Chatterjee, confirmed that Rinku and Aaqib have already left to join the India B squad in Bengaluru. Rinku, known primarily for his explosive finishing in T20 cricket, also boasts a solid first-class record, amassing 3,173 runs in 47 matches at an impressive average of 54.7. His achievements include seven centuries and 20 half-centuries, with a highest score of 163 not out.

India B’s victory in their opening game was powered by Musheer Khan’s brilliant knock of 181 in the first innings. With key players moving up to the national team, the additions of Rinku and Aaqib are expected to strengthen the squad as they aim to maintain their winning momentum.

India B will next face India C, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, at the ACA-ADCA Ground in Anantapur on September 5.
