Rinku Singh has earned a spot in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, marking another step forward in his rising international career. The talented left-hander from Aligarh will travel to Dubai this week for the prestigious continental tournament, which kicks off on September 9 and features eight top Asian teams.

At 27, Rinku Singh has already represented India in two ODIs and 33 T20Is, and his explosive performances for the Meerut Mavericks in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Premier League have further strengthened his claim for a place in the playing XI. Ahead of the Asia Cup, Rinku addressed his “T20 specialist” tag, making it clear that he aspires to excel across all formats.
“Fans enjoy it when I hit sixes, and I’m grateful for their love. But my Ranji Trophy average is over 55, and I love red-ball cricket. I’ve also done well in ODIs, so I don’t see myself as just a T20 player. My dream is to play Test cricket for India, and I’ll be ready if the opportunity comes,” he told the Times of India.

The Uttar Pradesh batter has long idolized former India star Suresh Raina, who also carved a niche as a dependable middle-order player. “Suresh Raina Bhaiya is my inspiration. He always tells me to be prepared for every challenge. I want to contribute to India in all formats, just like he did,” Rinku Singh shared.
Although Rinku Singh missed out on India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad, he views the Asia Cup as a key opportunity to cement his place for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka early next year.

“My ultimate dream is to hold that World Cup trophy for India. A strong Asia Cup performance will make things clearer for selection, and I’m confident I’ll deliver for my team,” he added.
Known for his fearless batting and ability to finish games, Rinku Singh has emerged as one of India’s most promising limited-overs talents. However, his consistent domestic red-ball performances underline his hunger to succeed in all formats. With India seeking balance in their middle order ahead of major tournaments, his versatility could prove invaluable.

As Rinku Singh prepares for his first Asia Cup, all eyes will be on how he translates his domestic dominance into impactful performances on the big stage. A breakout campaign in Dubai could not only strengthen India’s title charge but also pave the way for Rinku Singh to become a permanent fixture in the national setup.
