Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh has been a loyal and integral part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for the past seven years. Over the last couple of seasons, Rinku has begun to truly showcase his potential, consistently winning matches for KKR. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the Indian national team.

Rinku Singh is part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster, albeit as one of the reserves. Despite being one of India’s finest finishers in the T20 format, Rinku’s salary at KKR is relatively modest. He earns 55 lakh INR, a stark contrast to his IPL teammate Mitchell Starc, who commands a hefty salary of 24.75 crore INR.

The discrepancy is significant, and it raises the question of Rinku’s market value. If he were to leave KKR and enter the auction pool, it’s widely believed that bids exceeding 10 crore INR might still not be sufficient to secure his services. When asked about his relatively low salary, Rinku Singh demonstrated his grounded mentality, explaining that even 50-55 lakh INR is a significant amount for him.

“Even 50-55 lakhs is a lot. When I started, I had not even thought that I would earn so much. At that time, I was a kid and if I got even 10-5 rupees, I thought I would get it somehow. Now I am getting 55 lakh rupees, so this is a lot, I should be happy with whatever God gives me. This is my thinking. I don’t think at all that I should have got this much money or that much. I am very happy even with 55 lakh rupees. When I didn’t have this, I realized the value of money,” Rinku Singh told Dainik Jagran in an interview.

Rinku Singh isn’t someone who chases money. He possesses a philosophical outlook on life, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded and appreciating what one has. He likened life to a journey where people come and go without taking anything material with them.

“If I tell you the truth today, then all this is an illusion. You did not bring anything with you, nor will you take anything with you. You never know when time will change. I would like to say that you have to go back the same way you came. Stay grounded, what else,” Rinku Singh said.
