The young Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant as managed to churn out brilliant performances in the fourth and final Test of the series against England as he scored his third Test century on Day 2. His brilliant continued on Day 3 continues behind the stumps, as he affected a quickfire stumping which helped dismiss Ollie Pope in England’s second innings.

Ollie Pope was looking strong until his dismissal throughout the innings, as he had stepped out against Ravichandran Ashwin to hit him for a six in the previous over. However, Axar Patel outfoxed the right-handed batsman with a gem of a delivery, as India edged closer to victory.

Earlier, England was already put in a spot of bother after a series of poor shot selections led to their batting order’s collapse in the second innings. All the wickets (until the fifth wicket of Ollie Pope) of England’s innings were taken by spinners.

Earlier on Saturday, Washington Sundar remained stranded on 96 when he ran out of partners, as India were all out for 365 in their first innings. England had scored 205 in their first innings. Sundar faced 174 balls and hit 10 boundaries and one six, and remained unbeaten, missing what would have been his first Test century. For England, Ben Stokes took four wickets and James Anderson took three.

Earlier on day 2, Rishabh Pant walked in to bat at No.5 after the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane when the hosts were reeling at 80 for 4. He started his innings cautiously but accelerated spectacularly, especially after England took the second new ball. He was at his ferocious best, thrashing the England bowlers on his whims and fancies.

Pant’s century-plus partnership with Washington Sundar tilted the game in favor of the hosts who finished day two on 294-7. Sundar was batting on 60 and Axar Patel was on 11 with India 89 ahead of England at stumps on Day 2 of the series-finale in Ahmedabad.
