Rishabh Pant has made a triumphant return to the rankings, securing the sixth position after scoring 39 runs in the first innings and a brilliant 109 in the second. His performance was a crucial factor in India’s comprehensive victory. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has climbed from fifth to a career-best 14th position following his impressive unbeaten 119 in the second innings. This marked a significant milestone for Gill, showcasing his growing stature in international cricket.
Ravichandran Ashwin also shone brightly with a vital 113 runs in the first innings, lifting him seven places to 72nd in the batting rankings. The synergy between Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja was pivotal, as their remarkable 199-run partnership laid the foundation for India’s commanding 280-run win.

Ravindra Jadeja’s contribution of 86 runs helped him ascend three places to 37th in the batting rankings. Ashwin further solidified his standing by gaining one rating point to retain the top position in the bowling rankings, thanks to his six-wicket haul in the second innings. Jadeja also made strides in the bowling department, moving up one spot to sixth place after taking five wickets in the match.

Both players have also excelled in the all-rounder rankings. Jadeja remains at the top with a career-best 475 points, while Ashwin, with an additional 48 points, holds second place with 370 points. Other notable movements for Indian players include Yashaswi Jaiswal, who, after scoring a half-century in the first innings, has entered the top five for the first time. Fast bowler Akash Deep has also made headway, rising ten places to 88th after claiming two wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah continues to have an exceptional year in 2024, contributing significantly across all formats and aiding India in their ICC trophy quest. His prowess in the Test arena has been particularly impressive. Bumrah commenced the year with a stellar performance against England, where he took 19 wickets at an average of 16.89 over four matches, including a five-wicket haul. He further showcased his talent in the first Test against Bangladesh, claiming five wickets, including a four-wicket haul in the first innings.

On the Bangladesh side, captain Najmul Hussain Shanto’s scores of 20 and 82 have propelled him 14 places to 48th in the rankings. Seam bowler Hasan Mahmud also made a notable leap, moving up five spots to 44th among bowlers after taking five wickets in the first innings. Additionally, Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed have seen upward movements in their respective rankings, further highlighting the competitive nature of the series.
