Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has soared in the latest ICC Test rankings, moving up five spots to claim the No. 6 position after impressive scores of 60 and 64 in the third Test against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This makes Pant India’s second-highest-ranked batter in Tests, following Yashasvi Jaiswal, who slipped to No. 4 after struggling in the same match.
Rishabh Pant’s rise highlights his growing consistency and value in India’s Test line-up. Shubman Gill also saw an upward shift, climbing four places to reach No. 16 following his steady 90-run performance in Mumbai. Meanwhile, veteran batter Virat Kohli has dropped out of the top 20, sliding to No. 22 after an underwhelming series.

Virat Kohli’s form in 2024 has been a concern, as he’s managed only two half-centuries across all formats. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who also had a challenging series, dropped two spots to sit at No. 26. In the bowlers’ rankings, Ravindra Jadeja’s stellar display with two five-wicket hauls in the Mumbai Test has elevated him to the No. 6 spot.

With 802 rating points, Jadeja continues to prove his all-around impact in Test cricket. Jasprit Bumrah remains India’s top-ranked bowler at No. 3, with 838 points, though Ravichandran Ashwin fell one spot to No. 5 after the latest updates. New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel, whose five-wicket hauls in both innings kept India on their toes, jumped 12 places to No. 22.
Globally, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada still leads the bowler rankings after ousting Bumrah from the top last week. Rabada’s recent success played a critical role in South Africa’s 2-0 series win over Bangladesh. He’s followed by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood at No. 2 and compatriot Pat Cummins in fourth place.
