According to its rules, a team needs to finish the entire quota of 20 overs in 90 minutes and if any team fails to do that they will invite penalty, ban from matches as well. And, recently, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni too has already faced the penalty of a whopping  Rs 12 lakhs against Delhi because of slow over-rate.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, who is leading the Delhi Capitals this time, has tried all possible ways to prove his mettle. While the captain is well aware of the slow over-rate penalties, he can be heard constantly urging his players to speed up things so that they wouldn’t face that.

Recently, during the 7th over bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin, the on-field umpires suddenly stopped the game for some time to check the number of players outside the 30-yard circle. And, Rishabh Pant, being cheeky, stole the limelight by saying that the umpire is the reason for this delay and he would not be blamed for the slow over-rate as well.

However, he was caught in the stump mic and everyone could not help but laughing their hearts out. He was heard saying: “This one minute is taken by you umpire”.

As far as the match is concerned, the Delhi Capitals skipper won the toss and elected to bat first but the decision wasn’t fruitful as they lost 4 crucial wickets in just 37 runs as well. Struggling to score on a slow pitch, Rishabh Pant took the charge and played a stunning 51 runs knock in just 32 deliveries with 09 boundaries as well. However, some cameos at the end, helped them put up 147 runs in 20 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals too had a similar start. They lost five wickets in just 42 runs. But later David Miller scored a brilliant 62 off just 43 deliveries to keep the hopes of their win in the match and later some cameos from Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes alongside Chris Morris’s late onslaught took the team home. Morris smacked 4 sixes and sealed the deal.
