Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant has been handed a fine for maintaining a slow over-rate during Match 16 of IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians, held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 4. As this was LSG’s first over-rate offence of the season, Pant was fined ₹12 lakh under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate violations.

Meanwhile, LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi has also come under the spotlight for the wrong reasons. The young leg-spinner was fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct for the second time this season. Rathi, who is gaining a reputation both for his crafty bowling and animated celebrations, repeated his controversial “notebook” celebration after dismissing Naman Dhir.

Since it was his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5, Rathi has now accumulated two demerit points in addition to the one he received in LSG’s earlier clash against Punjab Kings. As per IPL guidelines, the Match Referee’s decision for Level 1 breaches is final and binding.
