Rishabh Pant’s frustration boiled over during Lucknow Super Giants’ clash against Delhi Capitals in the 40th match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The incident that sparked his fury involved debutant mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi and a DRS call gone wrong against DC opener KL Rahul.

It unfolded in the 7th over, with KL Rahul facing Rathi’s final delivery of the over. The ball was tossed up and spun sharply, beating Rahul’s inside edge before thudding into his pad. Despite the excitement from Rathi, the on-field umpire wasn’t convinced, and the replay suggested the impact was clearly outside the off stump.
Still, Rathi managed to persuade Pant to review the decision, albeit with just three seconds left on the clock. The UltraEdge showed no bat, but the impact confirmed what the umpire had judged — comfortably outside off. The moment the big screen flashed “Not Out,” Pant, visibly agitated, turned to Rathi and mockingly raised his hand as if to slap him, stopping just short.

The gesture was playful in context, but it captured how emotionally charged the moment was. The DRS drama only compounded Pant’s dismal outing with the bat.

Surprisingly demoted in the batting order, he didn’t come out at No.4, No.5, or even No.6. Instead, Abdul Samad, David Miller, and impact sub Ayush Badoni were sent in ahead of him.

When Pant finally arrived at the crease in the final over with just two deliveries remaining, he failed to make an impact, missing the first ball and getting bowled attempting a reverse scoop on the second — ending with a two-ball duck. It was a forgettable evening for Pant, marked by tactical missteps, a wasted review, and a rare moment of public frustration.
