The DPL will comprise men’s and women’s matches, and all matches will be conducted at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Even the auction of franchises held on July 28 was a significant spending exercise as six men’s teams went for INR 49.65 crore.

Speaking to the media, Rohan Jaitley revealed that apart from Pant, Saini, and Rana, a number of other top Indian players will feature in the league. He said that while Pant has expressed his desire to be part of the league, his participation would depend on national commitments.

“Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana, and other Indian players will feature in the inaugural season of DPL.”. I spoke to Rishabh Pant and he has promised to come and participate in this league, but of course it only depends on his availability and national commitments. But as of now, he will be playing. Navdeep and Harshit will also feature in the league,” Rohan Jaitley said during the trophy inauguration ceremony as reported by The Times of India.

It also paraded a draft of 270 players from Delhi, covering national, U-23, and U-19 players. To add more glamour, ex-India cricketer Virender Sehwag, who is the brand ambassador of this league, came forward showing interest in the initiative. Sehwag’s own son has been selected to play in this state-born league; hence, he understands the importance of the league for upcoming players.

“The league shall definitely be a great chance for those guys sitting in the nets working hard and not getting into any limelight of any event. When we used to play in our younger days, we didn’t have this type of opportunity to get exposed in different leagues. When my turn is over and now my son is playing, I am glad that he will be getting those opportunities, so yes it is a very great opportunity,” Virender Sehwag said.
