Neeraj Chopra of India kept alive the hopes of a nation for a gold medal at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics. The Chandigarh lad merely showcased his class when he qualified for the Javelin Throw finals with a throw of 89.34 meters in the qualifying round itself. Now, all eyes are going to be on him fighting for that gold on the 8th of August to bring laurels to India.
In an exciting turn of events, Indian star cricketer Rishabh Pant recently turned to X in a bid to rally support behind Chopra. Pant made a generous offer to his followers—that is, he promised INR 1,00,089 to a lucky winner who likes the most and comments on the thread if Chopra secured a gold medal. He further promised to gift flight tickets to the next top 10 engagers on his tweet, cementing his stance for his countryman.

“If Neeraj Chopra wins a gold medal tomorrow, I will pay 100089 Rupees to a lucky winner who likes the tweet and comments the most. And for the rest of the top 10 people trying to get an eye, I will provide flight tickets. Let’s get support from India and the world for my brother,” he wrote on his X handle.

The other great performances put up by India at the Paris Olympics include three bronze medals till now. Manu Bhaker won the first bronze for India in the 10-meter air pistol event. She, along with Sarabjot Singh, also clinched a bronze in the mixed team event. Another bronze medal was won by Swapnil Kusale in the 50-meter rifle category.

Also, Vinesh Phogat’s journey to the final has ensured at least a silver medal for India in wrestling. On the other hand, hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian cricket team after the Men in Blue recently participated in a white-ball series against the island nation. Sweeping up the T20I series 3-0, the Men in Blue found the ODI series harder to match up to.
The first ODI was dramatically sealed in a tie, with Sri Lanka clinching the second game. Pant could make a highly-anticipated return in the third and final ODI, as he has not featured in the ODI series yet. With Neeraj Chopra ready to take centre stage and eye the gold, the whole nation, including celebrities like Rishabh Pant, stands in enthusiastic support for a historic win.
