Indian cricket fans love Rishabh Pant, not just for his explosive batting, but also for his on-field banter. This was evident again in a recent podcast where he discussed his techniques for unsettling legendary cricketers!ย Pant, who is currently recovering from a serious car accident in December 2022, joined Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan on the Club Prairie Fire podcast. Naturally, the conversation turned to sledging, a tactic where cricketers use verbal barbs to unsettle their opponents.
When asked how he’d handle Vaughan, known for his active social media presence, Rishabh Pant had a witty reply: “Don’t have to say much,” he said, “I would say you are focusing too much on social media instead of playing your cricket.” Vaughan, taking it in good humor, simply replied, “I would say that.”
However, Rishabh Pant admitted it would be a different story with Gilchrist, known for his laser focus on the field.

“I think he’s anyways off when he was playing,” Rishabh Pant said. “He’s in his own zone. You can’t disturb these kind of people, so nothing much I can say to him.” Gilchrist, ever the quick wit, countered, “I’m already slogging wildly; is that what you are telling me? You don’t have to tell me,” to which Pant playfully replied, “Yeah, that was the idea.”

This lighthearted exchange highlights Pant’s personality and the camaraderie within the cricketing world. While sidelined for over a year, Rishabh Pant has been undergoing intense rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is all set to make a comeback in the upcoming IPL season.
The 26-year-old will be leading the Delhi Capitals (DC) and was recently declared fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman by the BCCI. However, he might play as a specialist batsman initially. Rishabh Pant was in top form before the accident, scoring 340 runs with an impressive strike rate in the 2022 IPL season.
