Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has recently revealed the reason behind not using the DRS against Mumbai Indians player Tim David in their must-win match at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. However, they not only lost the match against Mumbai Indians by five wickets but got eliminated too from the tournament as well. And, with this, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs and will play against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator on May 25.

“I thought there was something (about not reviewing Tim David caught behind). Everyone standing in the circle wasn’t convinced and at the end I didn’t go up,” Pant said in the post-match presentation.

While talking about Delhi Capitals’ performance in the 2022 season, Rishabh Pant said, “For most of the game we were on top. On occasions, we let the game slip away from our grabs when we were on top. That’s what we were doing throughout the season. Not good enough to win this match I guess.

“It’s not about pressure. We could have done better execution and planning. Learn from mistakes and come back stronger next year. We were 5-7 runs short but we bowled really well. We bowled well throughout the tournament, but dew came in towards the end and we didn’t bowl to our plans. It’s hard but we got to take it on our chin and learn from it,” Rishabh Pant concluded.

On the other hand, Tim David played a quick cameo. He smashed an 11-ball 34 along with 2 fours and 4 sixes. His knock helped his side win as well.

After the game, he said: “Nice to finish with a win, we got close the other night, good to finish this off. Ishan (Kishan) told me the wicket was getting flatter, it was holding a bit with the slower balls, but I just had to hold my shape and back my game, keep it simple. I got lucky with a couple of baby sixes, it is all about repetition and holding your shape. Early in the season I was leaning back on the ball a bit, so I’ve worked really hard on my shape, happy with the result. It’s been a tough season but our last six games we’ve played some good cricket. We’ve won four games out of six which is really promising for our group. I got a message from Faf this morning – it was a picture of him, Maxi and Virat all in an MI kit, maybe I’ll get to post that on Instagram later. (On review not taken) I heard a noise but I wasn’t sure, but when they didn’t review, I thought let’s crack on, that’s how the game is.”
