Rishabh Pant to continue as Delhi Capitals captain in IPL 2021

As per the reports of Sportskeeda, India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will continue to lead the Delhi Capitals in the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 season. Pant led the Delhi Capitals team in the first phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 edition after their regular captain Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury during the limited-overs series against England earlier this year and was eventually ruled out of the tournament.

With Shreyas Iyer’s return, there are questions among fans that who will lead the Delhi Capitals team in phase 2 of the IPL 2021 edition which will take place in the UAE next month as well. However, according to Sportskeeda, the Delhi Capitals management are happy to have Shreyas Iyer back in the team but that want to continue with Rishabh Pant as captain for this year’s rest of the IPL matches as well.

A source quoted to Sportskeeda, “While it is great news that Shreyas Iyer is fit again and ready to get back to action, it is understood that the DC management want to give him more time to recover. As a result, Pant will continue as captain, but only for the second half of IPL 2021.”

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has done an exceptional job as the leader of the team and didn’t let the team feel the absence of their key player Shreyas Iyer. Under his leadership, Delhi Capitals played 8 matches and won 6 of them as well and stands at the top of the IPL 2021 points table before the league got suspended in May due to COVID-19.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer captained the team well and helped them reached the final of the IPL 2020 edition also but lost to the most successful team ever in the IPL history – Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, all teams have already departed for the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have started their practise sessions as well after reaching there.
