Mitchell Marsh backed Rishabh Pant to return strongly and make a statement in LSG’s last two matches of the IPL 2025. On Monday, LSG were knocked out of the tournament following their six-wicket defeat to the SRH at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow as well.

And, Rishabh Pant has been in poor form after becoming the most expensive player in IPL history when the LSG bought him for a whopping Rs 27 crore as well. In 12 matches, Pant could manage only 135 runs at an average of 12.27 at a strike-rate of 100 with a top score of 63 as well.

“He’d be the first one to say that he hasn’t had the season that he would have liked. But I know for myself personally that that’s the way cricket goes sometimes and we know that he’s a fantastic player, highly skilled and highly talented. So he will be back, hopefully, in the last two games,” Mitchell Marsh said in the post-match press conference.

After being asked to bat first, LSG also scored 205 for the loss of seven wickets. Marsh and Markram laid the foundation with knocks of 65 and 61, respectively as well. But the SRH chased down the target with 10 balls in hand.

“They bowled very well to their plans throughout the middle order. And maybe we were probably 15 short on what was a really good wicket. And, you know, the margins are very small in this game. But as we know, you can have 180 or 280 on the board and you never really feel safe against the Sunrisers. So they’re a dangerous side and they batted beautifully,” Marsh further added.

However, LSG will play against the Gujarat Titans on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as well.
