A humorous exchange between Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav, teammates for both India and Delhi Capitals, was caught on the stump mic during the Duleep Trophy 2024 match. Representing India B and India A respectively, the two shared a light-hearted moment in a tense situation. India A was in trouble, needing 131 more runs to win with only three wickets remaining. Kuldeep Yadav, known more for his bowling than his batting, found himself at the crease, partnering with Akash Deep.

In a crucial moment, Kuldeep swept a delivery from Sai Kishore to the vacant midwicket boundary. As the over neared its end, a comical exchange between the spinner and wicketkeeper Pant took place, bringing some levity to the pressure-filled game.

Pant, always quick with his wit, instructed the fielders to move in closer to prevent Kuldeep from taking a single. He assumed that Kuldeep would try to protect Akash Deep from facing the next over. However, Kuldeep assured Pant that he wouldn’t take the single. Pant, not one to miss a chance for a joke, responded by asking Kuldeep to swear on his mother that he wouldn’t take the run.

Rishabh Pant humorously warned, “Sab upar rehna single ke liye saare” (Everyone come up close to prevent the single). Kuldeep replied, “Mai nahi lunga” (I won’t take the single). Pant, with a playful grin, shot back, “Kha le maa kasam nahi lega” (Swear on your mother that you won’t take it).

The situation became even more amusing as the match progressed. India A was struggling at 152/7, chasing a target of 275 on a challenging pitch. Kuldeep and Akash Deep were trying to hold off the disciplined India B bowlers. With Musheer Khan bowling a tight over, Pant continued his banter from behind the stumps.

Rishabh Pant, in a cheeky tone, suggested that Kuldeep should be allowed to take a single, hinting that he had a foolproof plan to get him out in the next over. When Kuldeep playfully told him to relax, Pant, with his characteristic humor, quipped, “Toh phir out ho jaa na” (Then just get out, why don’t you?).
