During the second Test against Bangladesh at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium on September 27, Pant was once again at the center of the action. This time, he had a lighthearted jab aimed at Mominul Haque’s height while he was keeping wickets.

The amusing incident unfolded during the 33rd over when Mominul was facing Ravichandran Ashwin. After Mominul attempted a sweep shot that failed to connect properly, the ball ricocheted and struck him on the upper part of his body. The Indian team immediately appealed for an lbw, but the umpire rejected the claim.

As Ashwin prepared for the next delivery, Pant quipped, “Ye acha hai, helmet se bhi lbw le sakte hai,” which translates to, “This is good; we can take lbw off the helmet as well.” This comment elicited laughter from the field and the commentary box alike, with former India captain Sunil Gavaskar bursting into laughter and translating Pant’s playful remark into English for viewers.

Sunil Gavaskar noted that Pant was humorously referencing Mominul’s height. Unfortunately, the excitement of the first day was cut short by rain, bringing play to an early close. At stumps, Bangladesh was positioned at 107 for 3, with Akash Deep taking two wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin claiming one.
