India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant once again stole the spotlight with his vibrant presence on the field during the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pant, returning to Test cricket after nearly 700 days following a road accident, showcased his usual energetic style behind the stumps and made his presence felt on Day 2.
Pant’s sharp reflexes were on display throughout the day, as he kept Bangladesh’s batters under pressure. One of his standout moments came when he took a sharp catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan, who had looked threatening at the crease. Rishabh Pant’s performance behind the stumps was immaculate, as he didn’t allow any balls to slip past him, further cementing his reputation as a dependable wicketkeeper.
True to his lively nature, Rishabh Pant also entertained the crowd with his classic ‘stump mic’ banter. Ahead of the 25th over, with Litton Das and Shakib at the crease, Pant cheekily mocked Ravindra Jadeja, providing a lighthearted moment that quickly went viral online.

While he appeared in fine form, his innings ended with a mistimed shot off Hasan Mahmud. Nevertheless, his contribution proved vital in setting up a strong platform for India in a challenging situation.
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja played a starring role for India, both with bat and ball. Coming in when India was struggling at 144/6, Jadeja, in partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin (113), propelled India to a commanding total of 376. His 86-run knock was a masterclass in handling pressure.
