The young Indian wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant was the star of the show on Day 2 of the ongoing fourth Test match between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) after he played a sensational knock of 159* to power India to a mammoth score 622/7d. Pant’s knock was also a tribute to his mother Saroj Pant, who is celebrating her birthday as she witnessed his son scoring a record-breaking century to guide India to a strong position to win the match and seal the historic series win against Australia on their home soil.
Pant took to his official Twitter account to wish his mother on her special day. Pant smashed 15 boundaries and one maximum as he played stunning shots all across the park during his innings before Virat Kohli declared the innings on 622 just before the end of Day 2.

After posting a photo of him with his mother on the micro-blogging site, Rishabh wrote, “Happy birthday mom You are the person who is always behind me no matter what. I love you so much. Thank you for taking all the stress of mine and making it yours can’t even express my feelings in words. Love you happy birthday once again.”

Pant’s century broke a plethora of records as he became the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a ton on the Australian soil and also surpassed MS Dhoni’s score of 148 to become the first Indian gloveman to score 150+ in overseas Test matches.
With the brilliant knock, Rishabh is also now the second highest run-getter in the four-match Test series with a total of 350 runs to his name. The 21-year-old is just behind Cheteshwar Pujara, who has racked up 521 runs with three centuries to his name. The Virat Kohli and his men are leading the series 2-1 and they are on the verge of a historic away series win against Australia.
